Warren WhiteKnight is a Queen’s Law graduate, achieving top 10% standing all three years. He is based in the firm’s Kingston office but travels throughout Eastern Ontario each week as per clients’ needs. Warren regularly represents his clients in court and tribunal proceedings and has an excellent track record of achieving results both in court and out-of-court settlements.
Warren grew up in Vermont, but settled in Canada after marrying his lovely wife, Dr. Holly WhiteKnight, who has a naturopathic practice. Warren and his family live on an 81-acre farm and raise chickens, keep bees, tap maples, and do other small-scale farming.
He is an avid cyclist, rock climber, snowboarder, and soccer player, and is heavily involved in volunteer work. He understands that when you get injured, the impact runs more than skin deep – the entire family is affected, and people lose their ability to work and play in the way they did before.

Serious personal injury claims rarely affect one person in isolation. They disrupt households, alter routines, and strain financial stability, with effects felt across the entire family. That is the perspective Bergeron Clifford LLP brings to its work.
Led by partners Ted Bergeron, Chris Clifford, Gavin Cosgrove, and Warren WhiteKnight, the team draws on a shared understanding of family life, with 15 children between them. Named among Canadian Lawyer’s Top Personal Injury Boutiques 2026, the practice represents clients across Ontario and North America, with a focus on the Eastern Ontario communities it calls home. The firm has 5 offices in Kingston, Ottawa, Pembroke, Carleton Place, and Perth.
Each week the lawyers meet clients and their families in hospital, at home, or in one of the offices, and carry files through investigation, mediation, and trial. Each matter is built on a full factual and medical record, including police reports, site visits, and witness interviews, with trial files handled by a team of at least two lawyers and two staff. Clients work directly with counsel rather than through layers of intermediaries, and many are given a cell number for their lawyer at the beginning of the process.
Files can take lawyers onto rural properties to examine equipment, walk the land, and reconstruct how injuries occurred in context. That firsthand work grounds the case in the conditions clients live with every day.
Bergeron Clifford LLP is the only firm in the country with a real mock courtroom inside its office, where cases nearing trial are tested through simulated proceedings using members of the public as a jury, so clients and experts are prepared to give evidence.
“Our lawyers are litigators, educators and empowerers. We are privileged to be gatekeepers to our legal system, but that doesn’t put us in an ivory tower. We are down in the trenches,” says Warren WhiteKnight, Partner.
Relationships are described in terms of handshakes and reputation, rather than contracts or awards. Across Eastern Ontario, involvement in local initiatives runs from Belleville to Cornwall, Kingston through Lanark, and Ottawa to Pembroke, with support that includes both funding and time spent directly in local initiatives.
That presence shapes how clients arrive at the firm, with most matters coming through referrals from former clients and professional networks, and many individuals directed to the practice by multiple sources.
“We are ‘the injury lawyers’ in our communities,” Chris Clifford, Founding Partner adds.
Bergeron and Clifford have built the practice from a three-person operation in one office to more than 40 people across five offices, bringing together litigation experience and a close understanding of the communities they serve.
Recent work has placed greater emphasis on education, with expanded resources for clients and healthcare partners, more learning sessions, and a stronger digital presence.
The approach is intended to avoid the confusion and lack of information clients often experience in other systems. Clients are brought into the legal process from the outset, with emphasis on explaining the law and the strengths and challenges in each case so they can participate in decisions as strategies are developed.
Alongside this, a cloud-based paperless system was adopted ahead of wider use, dedicated Zoom rooms are in place in each office, and the team includes a lawyer recognized internationally for work in artificial intelligence in law.
“It’s more than just ensuring full financial compensation; we tirelessly strive to secure the treatment [our clients] require to recover from their injuries”
