Fidelis Injury and Disability Law has a clear mandate to advocate for individuals and families in New Brunswick affected by serious injury or disability.
Since its founding in 2014 by partners Mathieu Picard, Justin Robichaud, and Marie-Josée Ouellette, the firm has developed a reputation for steady growth, strong client relationships, and local presence.
The three founding partners remain hands-on and closely involved in the firm’s day-to-day work. Fidelis Law may be modest in size, but its reach extends across the province and beyond. In 2024 and 2025, Canadian Lawyer named it one of the country’s Top Personal Injury Boutiques, highlighting the firm’s leadership and long-standing client relationships.
Its lawyers are known for their direct, client-focused approach and dedication to handling complex personal injury and disability claims. Most new clients come through professional and community referrals, which reflect its legal performance and reputation.
“While we are dedicated to achieving results, we are not a settlement mill,” says founding partner Justin Robichaud. “Our successful outcomes reflect our dedication to strong advocacy and helping clients secure the compensation they deserve.”
Much of the firm’s growth has been driven by relationships. Over time, it has built strong working connections with treating physicians, treatment providers, independent experts, and others involved in rehabilitation and support, all of whom play a critical role in a client’s recovery.
These partnerships allow the firm to assist clients with timely access to treatment and provide a more coordinated approach to their recovery. That broader view of advocacy, which includes health, finances, and personal well-being, remains central to the firm’s identity.
“A satisfied client is one who knows we understood the full scope of their case, explored every avenue and took every possible step to maximize their recovery, and ultimately delivered results”

Paul Miller has over 25 years of experience advocating for people who have suffered personal injuries, often due to airline accidents or defective products and medical devices. “Our holistic approach distinguishes us from our competitors because by offering a more personalized, comprehensive, and supportive experience, we can better address the diverse needs of our clients,” Ouellette says.
The firm emphasizes communication and responsiveness, keeping clients informed and included in major decisions. Its legal team takes the time to explain the strategy, manage expectations, and work toward outcomes that match each client’s long-term needs.
“A satisfied client is one who knows we understood the full scope of their case, explored every avenue and took every possible step to maximize their recovery, and ultimately delivered results,” Picard says.
Fidelis Law benefits from the extensive experience of its team. Partner Chantal Thibodeau, a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, brings decades of trial experience to the firm. Her insight and perspective, alongside the diverse backgrounds of Fidelis Law’s other lawyers, contribute to the thoughtful and strategic approach that defines the firm’s work.
Fidelis Law’s influence extends beyond client representation to the advancement of the legal system itself. Its partners hold prominent leadership roles within the legal profession, reflecting the firm’s deep commitment to the integrity, development, and future of the legal system.
Justin Robichaud is a past president of both the Law Society of New Brunswick and the New Brunswick Branch of the Canadian Bar Association and is a current member of Council of the Federation of Law Societies of Canada. Marie-Josée Ouellette currently serves as president of the Atlantic Provinces Trial Lawyers Association, and Mathieu Picard is the current second vice president of the Law Society of New Brunswick.
Fidelis Law also remains engaged in legal education. Its lawyers are frequently sought after as speakers at legal conferences and the partners serve as sessional lecturers at the Université de Moncton Faculty of Law, where they teach Insurance Law.
The firm has stayed deliberately small to remain agile and accessible. Its size allows the team to stay close to the work, build strong relationships, and grow steadily through word-of-mouth, without chasing scale for the sake of it.
