Paul McGivern, KC, is a senior litigator who acts exclusively in plaintiff’s medical negligence and infant injury cases. He has litigated numerous high-profile precedent-setting cases in British Columbia and also at the Supreme Court of Canada, and has served as adjunct professor of law at UBC for 18 years.
McGivern is a founding member of the Birth Injury Lawyers Alliance of Canada and a member of the Birth Trauma Litigation Group of the American Association of Justice. Lindsay McGivern represents plaintiffs in medical negligence and birth injury litigation. McGivern articled at a civil litigation defense firm before moving to Pacific Medical Law, which has allowed her to have a broader perspective and given her a better understanding of the different approaches taken by plaintiff’s and defense counsel. She is an adjunct professor of law at UBC, where she teaches the medical negligence course.

Andrea Donaldson

Andrea Donaldson’s practice is focused on advocating for individuals and families who have suffered severe injuries as a result of medical negligence. She is a long-standing member of the Western Canadian Medical Malpractice Association. Donaldson regularly attends and has spoken at medical-legal conferences to maintain up-to-date knowledge of advancements in medicine, litigation strategies, and standards of care in the medical field, and has written articles on issues arising in medical malpractice and civil litigation. Outside of her professional work, she volunteers with Vancouver Adaptive Snow Sports, teaching adults and children with disabilities how to ski.

Kate McInnes joined Pacific Medical Law in 2023. After graduating from the Peter A. Allard School of Law in 2021, she interned at the United Nations International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals in The Hague and clerked with five judges at the BC Supreme Court. In addition to her practice at Pacific Medical Law, she is working towards her MSc in International Human Rights Law at the University of Oxford, where her research is focused on the human rights of persons with disabilities. She has been published in legal news outlets and peer-reviewed journals, both internationally and within Canada.

David Lackman graduated with honours from Montreal’s McGill University in 1978. Thereafter, he received his Juris Doctorate degree, cum laude, from Southwestern University School of Law in Los Angeles.
In 1982, he was admitted by the Supreme Court of California to practice as an attorney and counsellor-at-law in the state’s courts. He was admitted by the Law Society of Ontario as a barrister, solicitor and notary public in 1985.
