Jamie MacGillivray has practiced personal injury and insurance law since 1994, and exclusively since 1999. He is the principal and founder of MacGillivray Law, which is now one of the region’s leading plaintiff personal injury practices and the largest in Atlantic Canada.
MacGillivray has extensive trial experience with 39 entries for decisions in the CanLii case law database. He is Lexpert-ranked for being Repeatedly Recommended, and has been recognized by his peers as a Leading Practitioner in the field of personal injury litigation.
He has an interest in using litigation to help fight industry practices that are environmentally destructive, and to provide a check and balance against the increasing power of multinational corporations and the concentration of wealth and power in an increasingly small number of people. MacGillivray believes that this is what plaintiff personal injury law is really about, and that it can be part of the solution. He has been repeatedly recommended as a leading lawyer by a peer survey conducted by the Canadian Legal Expert Directory since 2011. He lives in Stellarton with his wife and children, and enjoys practicing a healthy lifestyle that includes various forms of exercise in his spare time.

Ali Imran Raja practiced law for 10 years in Pakistan, where he prosecuted and defended criminal cases, as well as represented clients in constitutional matters. Before being called to the bar in Nova Scotia, he was a research analyst with MacGillivray Law for three years.
Since being called to the bar in Nova Scotia, Raja has represented clients before the Supreme Court of Nova Scotia and the Federal Canadian Pension Plan Disability Tribunals. He believes that everybody should have to answer to the law, including the rich and the powerful, and that all people are deserving of equal concern and respect.
He has an affinity for cars and spends much of his spare time watching Formula 1 racing. He also enjoys listening to music and engaging in geopolitical issues, especially those focused on the disparity between regions.

Janus Siebrits
Partner
Janus Siebrits has been exclusively engaged in personal injury and insurance litigation with a focus on long-term disability claims and motor vehicle accident litigation. He has appeared regularly before the Federal Canada Pension Plan Disability Tribunals, the Supreme Court of Nova Scotia, and the Nova Scotia Court of Appeal.
Siebrits believes that the profit motive of insurance companies all too often comes in conflict with the everyday insured person on the street who is simply trying to get what they had been promised: “Insurance companies are businesses. They don’t make money by paying out money to their insureds. They will often look for any reason to refuse or delay a payout.”
Unfortunately, the only realistic recourse that these everyday insured persons have is to seek the help of a firm like MacGillivray Law to obtain what they are entitled to – nothing more, nothing less. When he’s not fighting for his clients, Siebrits can be found spending time with his family.
