Frank A. Benedetto has been with Flaherty McCarthy since 2000 and has been the Managing Partner since 2015. A Lexpert-ranked lawyer, he deals with cases involving complex tort, insurance, and accident benefit claims, including catastrophic, priority and loss transfer disputes, and cross-border matters. In addition to maintaining a full litigation practice, Frank is frequently retained to act as mediator. In upholding important traditions of the legal profession, he contributes to education, and volunteers.
Frank has taught Insurance Law at the University of Queen’s Faculty of Law and prepared and marked examinations, has been a participant of Osgoode Hall Law School’s Insurance Law Praxicum, and presents for a variety of legal organizations. He is dedicated to mentoring. Frank has volunteered on Boards and organizations involving our communities and the legal profession.

For over 30 years, Todd J. McCarthy has continually dedicated himself to advocacy, primarily as defence counsel. He welcomes the opportunity to advocate forcefully, but fairly, to achieve successful outcomes for his clients. Todd was the Defence Counsel Honouree for 2019 at the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association Annual Celebration of the Personal Injury Bar. He is the 2021 recipient of the Ontario Bar Association Award for Excellence in Insurance Law.
Todd’s contribution to the administration of justice includes teaching and mentoring, acting as mediator, intervening as independent counsel and acting for the defence at trial, on appeal, by way of arbitration and through motions for summary judgment. He continues the tradition of public service as a recently elected member of the Provincial Legislature and serves as Parliamentary Assistant to the President of the Treasury Board, Deputy Government Whip, and Member of the Standing Committee on Public Accounts. Todd is Lexpert ranked.

Sean A. Brown has extensive, high-level successful litigation experience in all levels of insurance defence. His proficient and resourceful approach leads to success and provides client satisfaction at all levels of litigation. Under Sean’s leadership, the firm has developed a Class Proceeding practice. This draws on his interest to widely assist in the administration of justice, and has led to a focus involving consumer protection issues.
Sean has successfully appeared in matters before the Superior Court of Justice, the Court of Appeal, the Financial Services Commission of Ontario, and private arbitrators. He has started a mediation practice influenced and informed by the countless mediators and advocates he has worked with for more than 20 years, drawing on this experience to assist others in resolving difficult cases.
