After clerking for the Honourable Ian Binnie at the Supreme Court of Canada, Jean-Michel Boudreau began his career as a litigator on Wall Street. He moved to Montreal in 2011 and has been with IMK LLP ever since, becoming managing partner in 2021 and leading a team of around 50 people. Over the past 18 months, he has been involved in some of Canada’s most complex litigation cases.
In 2025, Boudreau represented the Canadian Superior Courts Judges Association and the Canadian Judicial Council before the Judicial Compensation and Benefits Commission. He is lead counsel in a class action against Facebook for algorithmic employment discrimination and in a billion-dollar proposed class action against Amazon in Quebec for alleged anticompetitive conduct. Boudreau also defended pharmaceutical companies in Zantac-related class actions across four provinces, where the Defendants defeated certification in BC and secured discontinuances elsewhere. He leads the defense of Quebec’s two main construction unions in class actions, achieving rare appellate victories and shaping new legal ground.
He is recognized by Lexpert, Best Lawyers, and Benchmark Litigation. A published legal author, his writings on class actions and privileges have been cited multiples times by the Quebec Court of Appeal. His work reflects a deep commitment to legal excellence, innovation, and leadership.

A significant part of his focus today is staying ahead of regulatory change while maintaining a seamless client experience. He tracks updates from regulators and lenders closely and works with his teams to adjust systems as needed.
“My approach to my role and my career has always been rooted in passion, focus, and a relentless pursuit of excellence,” he says. “I’ve never been driven solely by profit or business metrics. I believe in hiring great talent, trusting them, and pushing boundaries because innovation doesn’t come from playing it safe.”
His experience isn’t limited to Canada. Ibrahim has worked in the US and UAE, which shaped his global perspective and comfort with adapting to different markets. He thrives on risk, viewing setbacks as stepping stones to progress.
“I’ve always believed that if you love what you do, you’ll never settle, and that attitude has guided every decision I’ve made,” he adds.
That outlook continues to guide his work and reflects his broader goal of helping move the industry forward. Through his brokerage, lending company, and legal services, Ibrahim is focused on creating long-term value for his clients, his teams, and others working in the field.
