The Canadian Commercial Arbitration Centre (CCAC), or Centre canadien d’arbitrage commercial, is Québec’s only not-for-profit arbitration centre. It promotes and facilitates dispute resolution outside the courts, without charging the parties administrative fees. Headquartered in Montréal, with an office in Québec City, the Centre administers international and domestic commercial arbitration, as well as commercial conciliation and mediation, under its own rules.
The CCAC is an authorized arbitration body under Québec’s guarantee plan for new residential buildings. It also administers several specialized programs: the Canadian Motor Vehicle Arbitration Plan (CAMVAP) in Québec; an arbitration procedure for disputes between Canadian Investment Regulatory Organization (CIRO) members and their clients; and the arbitration program under the national agreement between Québec’s Ministry of Health and Social Services and the ARIHQ.
The Centre’s role is administrative: it ensures that its rules are applied so that parties can achieve a fair and efficient resolution of their disputes. In 2026, the CCAC was named in Canadian Lawyer’s Readers’ Choice.
CCAC Registry Team
Case Administration
The CCAC registry is staffed year-round by top-tier law students: a second-year student, a third-year student, and an articling student completing the Barreau du Québec’s articling term. Working on a rotating schedule, each cohort trains the next, ensuring continuity, cohesion and the transfer of institutional knowledge from year to year. The team ensures that every case file is received on time, opened and processed promptly, and that parties and arbitrators receive support at every stage of the proceedings.
